De starka, stolta kvinnornas berg is a performative history lecture presented in video, text, sound and live performance, as well as in the shape of a book. In a collage made up of interviews with Wildow’s grandmother Inga Svensson, the archive she constructed around the mountain Omberg, a sound piece by Imri Sandström, and video from the mountain, a work in four voices unfolds. The voices cites additional women who throughout times have made the mountain their home. Voices speak to and about each other, interrupt, conclude each others’ sentences, and continues where the other ends, until voices and texts are woven together in a choir. In a montage of narratives, images, video, sound and stories overlap, intertwine and collide: historical and contemporary affinities are generated, opening up interspaces and resonances.
The premiere performance of De starka stolta kvinnornas berg took place in Alvastra Monastery Ruin, by the foot of the mountain Omberg, in August 2014. The performance included 4 kilometer hike over the mountain down to the monastery ruin and was performed at dawn.
The book titled De starka stolta kvinnornas berg translates the dialogues into printed text, woven together with in paper, yarn, and beech tree leaves. Graphics made in collaboration with Sara Kaaman.
De starka, stolta kvinnornas berg was produced with kind support from Ödeshögs kommun, Östsam regionförbund, Längmanska Kulturfonden, and the Wildow-parents.
