skogens lunga (the forest's lung)
skogen lunga (the forest's lung) (2019)
collage text / performance
100 cm x 70 cm / 10 minutes
cyanotype on silk, pine tree branch, metal clasp
skogens lunga (the forest's lung) is a text-, silk- and pine tree installation where parts have been made with the technique cyanotype. In the work, tongues talk in disparate directions, about breath, forests, movement, borders and the color blue. The text unfolds on the silk as a collage, built together with fragments from the diaries of a group of participants who collaborated with Wildow when the work come to life. In these, the process of the group was documented by the participants themselves, through a method called free writing, when researching around a nature reservoir in rural Sweden called Gränseskogen (The Border Forest).
The work is also a performance, in collaboration with the two participants Olivia and Mannar, which was performed at the opening of the exhibition tag mitt andetag iväg (take my breath away, 2019), on May 17th 2019, at Stripa Gallerirum in Guldsmedshyttan, Sweden.
skogens lunga was made in collaboration with a group of pupils from Storå skola in Bergslagen, Sweden. The work was made possible by the support of Konstfrämjandet Bergslagen, Lindesbergs kommun, Region Örebro Län, Kulturrådet, Storå skola, Stripa Grufpensionat, and Stripabryggeriet. It has been exhibited at Stripa Gallerirum in Guldsmedshyttan, Sweden.
